Dr. ZS Meharwal

Dr. Z. S. Meharwal is Executive Director, Cardiovascular Surgery, at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute & Research Centre, New Delhi. He is part of the founding team of doctors at the hospital and a renowned name in cardiac surgery in India. He has over 7000 surgeries to his credit and performs 60-70 cardiac procedures every month at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute.

Dr. Z. S. Meharwal completed his MBBS, MS and M.Ch from King George's Medical College, Lucknow. He has an E.C.F.M.G certificate from U.S. and has been a recipient of the President's award for his contribution to the field of cardiac surgery. He has numerous research papers and medical books on cardiology to his credit. In his role as an academician, Dr. Meharwal provided training to cardiac surgeons in India and the U.K., and was actively involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students at the prestigious King's College Hospital in London, where he also worked as a Consultant.

He is currently the Programme Coordinator of Diplomat National Board (DNB) Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Escorts Heart Institute. Dr. Z. S. Meharwal's areas of interest are off pump coronary artery bypass surgery, CABG in patients with poor ventricular function, surgery of ascending aortic aneurysm and dissections, peripheral vascular surgery and combined CABG, valve repair and replacement, and carotid endarterectomy.
