Dr. Sushal Shanthakumar

Dr.Sushal specialises in arthroscopic (keyhole) and minimally invasive surgery of the shoulder and replacement surgeries of the shoulder. His shoulder surgery uses advanced modern techniques for the management of shoulder dislocations, frozen shoulder, arthritis and sports injuries of the shoulder.  Dr Sushal did his early medical schooling in Bangalore and then went on to obtain his Masters degree in orthopaedics from the prestigious government institute - KIMS Hubli. Being an avid sports fan triggered his passion to pursue sports medicine abroad. He completed an AGA and ISAKOS fellowship in Arthroscopy & Sports Medicine in Germany. Sushal secured a work permit from the German Medical Council and worked as an Assistant Surgeon in Southwest German Sport Trauma Center in Germany for 2 years. During this time, under the tutelage of his mentors he specialized in Shoulder Arthroscopy and Arthroplasty. On his return to India, he has been practicing as a Consultant Shoulder Surgeon in Bangalore. Dr.Sushal routinely treats elite and professional athletes, with a particular interest in shoulder injuries in overhead and contact sports. He is involved in developing and running Postgraduate degrees for surgeons, therapists and sports clinicians in Orthopaedics. Sushal lectures and is also a tutor nationally on Shoulder Surgery and Sports Injuries. He has published widely in medical journals and a member of many international and national professional organisations. Sushal strongly believes in offering complete multidisciplinary shoulder and upper limb treatment, through close links with referring therapists and clinicians, ensuring that their patients get the highest standard of care.
