Dr. Rakesh Chopra is among the pioneers of Medical Oncology and regarded as one of the most trusted names nationally and internationally in the field. With more than 40 years of extensive experience, Dr. Rakesh Chopra has an exceptional expertise in treating solid tumors including Breast Cancer, Women Cancers, Cancer of the Lung, Prostate & Colon. He also specialises in Haemato Oncology and his association with reputed organisations all across the world for blood cancer, leukaemia, lymphoma treatment, and bone marrow transplant has earned him great respect in the field of Haematology. He has been instrumental in initiating cancer care treatment at various hospitals of repute. He also specialises in dealing with Cancer Genetics, Palliative Cancer Treatment, Precision Cancer Medicine, and Advanced Chemotherapy Treatment. He received his undergraduate degree from Delhi University, a post-graduate degree in Medicine from the prestigious Armed Forces Medical College Pune, India and did his Oncology training from leading institutions like – The Tata Memorial Hospital Mumbai, Memorial Sloan Kettering Institute, New York and the Jewish Long Island Hospital, New York, and M D Anderson cancer centre, Houston. After completing his formal education he joined Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Delhi in 1981 and gradually built up a Medical Oncology department in the Hospital. While recognising great opportunities to advance his knowledge and treatment of cancer, Dr. Chopra decided to specialise in cancer research and treatment, determined to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those facing and are suffering from the condition. He worked at Sir Ganga Ram Hospitals for 15 years, before he set out to establish the Oncology department of Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, Delhi. He was also the Academic co-coordinator for the DNB program (Oncology) at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, Delhi. Further, he started a new journey of setting up quality care for cancer patients in Gurgaon through Artemis Hospitals and Paras Hospitals. He served in Artemis Hospitals as the Chairman of the Cancer Department and continues as Sr. Director, Head - Medical Oncology & Haematology, Paras Group Hospitals. Dr. Chopra is committed to providing comprehensive and confidential health services to individuals and organisations. Dr. Rakesh Chopra is also actively associated with cancer awareness programs. He supports and conducts workshops and seminars with his colleagues with an intent to educate and create awareness of the various types of cancers.
