Dr. Prabhakara Shetty Heggunje

Dr. Prabhakara Shetty Heggunje is a Chief - Cardiology. After completing his MBBS from Mysore University in 1982, Dr. Shetty went on to pursue his MD degree in Internal Medicine (1985) and DM degree in Cardiology (1988) from the prestigious Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI) in Chandigarh. He started practicing as an Attending Cardiologist in the Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (MMM) in Madras and as a Senior Cardiologist in the Chest Hospital in Kuwait before he underwent his Residency in Internal Medicine and his Fellowship in cardiovascular disease from the State University of New York in Syracuse. Following these, he joined The Heart Group, P.C. in Evansville, Indiana and worked there until he returned to India in May 2008.  During his brief stint in the US, Dr. Shetty was Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, and Interventional Cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.  For his eminent work in fields of Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology and his exquisite proficiency in clinical medicine, he has been bestowed with Fellowships from the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and the Society of Cardiac Angiography and Interventions (FSCAI). His special interests lie in preventive cardiology, acute myocardial infarction, and complex coronary interventions and has done specialization in complex multiple vessel coronary interventions (which are otherwise considered for bypass surgery ) with durable long term results and low complication rates.  He is also an active member of the Cardiological Society of India (CSI) and the Cardiovascular Society of India (CVSI).
